Hey there, I'm Trisha Barita. I'm a mother of twin girls, a wife, an entrepreneur, a psychology major, a lawyer, and a coach. With all these different roles in my life, in the past, I truly struggled with limiting beliefs in my ability to adequately juggle all these roles successfully, I often would be frustrated that time and again, I let my goals and dreams always take a backseat to everything else I was trying to do. And those dreams always seem to be on the horizon, just out of reach. Until I discovered tools and thought work to help me tackle and learn to balance all of it. Now, I don't let these titles define my limits. I define my balance in life, by how I choose to show up for myself every day. Am I perfect? Hell no far from it. But I do work every day to believe in myself, and to be present with whatever I experienced in this life, The Good, the Bad, and The really fucking ugly. to own my truth and own my thoughts. I created this podcast to talk about how that noise gets in the way of our goals as women. And now I help women and teach them tools to cut the overwhelm of noise in their life, preventing them from getting the balance they want. If you like this podcast and want to take my free course to get started on designing your balance, and saying fuck that noise, go to Trisha barita.com forward slash free course. Now let's get after it.

Hello, fabulous friends. So here we are another new year. And at this point, you may be feeling the pressure to be kicked up in high gear about whatever resolution you have for this new year. Or to commit to something huge to make this year different than any other year. Oh, and if you haven't picked a New Year's resolution, let me give you the top. Top five. Number one, exercise more. Number two, eat healthier. Number three, lose weight. Number four, save more money. Number five, spend time with family and friends. That's generally how it goes. With the jokes of course being that the gym is much more crowded these first few weeks of January. Oh, and some bonus ideas. Number six read 20 books in a year number seven Decluttr number eight have more spa days number nine don't buy things you don't need number 10 Call a friend instead of texting number 11. Journal five times a week number 12. Take the stairs, number 13 travel somewhere new. Number 14 Start cooking more number 15 Send handwritten letters, and so on and so on. At this time of year, you can pretty much like go into any store and find you know, all the publications talking about New Year's resolutions and their different take on them all you may although you may find that it's just the regurgitated stuff from last year. So sometimes you find someone with some creative ideas, but you know where those resolution stuff come from anyway. So when theories based on records, you know, historical records that the that the whole idea about New Year's resolutions dates back like 4000 years to like the Babulal Babylonians. And, and they called it they said New Year pledges. But of course he you know, we fast forward to modern society and it is evolved into this huge thing. And with like, you know, billions of dollars spent on advertising to you what you should spend your money on and the resolution of the new year or whatever, you know, this whole mountain of expectation or noise that you that you yourself can create about it are your family, your friends, your co workers, society, you know, all the news stories, all the news outlets, all the social media, you know, the Out with the old in with the new What are you going to be this year kind of stuff. And it's all very time sensitive. There can be a feeling of you're behind if on January 1 You haven't gotten a whole plan about how you're going to be like Superwoman kick ass this year. And y'all No, I love goals. And I love goal making. And if you haven't listened to a bunch of my podcast before, the reason you would know that I love goals have you had because you go back to just episode number 10 of this podcast called Dream scary big work I love talking about, you know, having big dream goals, and episode number 24 taking next level massive action where I'm talking about, you know, implementing goals and how to go about it and taking the action for them. But But even though I love goals, and I love goal making, you know, because I truly believe that it doesn't really have to happen on January 1. I mean, goal, making a special and goal creation, if you're not just doing it arbitrarily, if you're really picking something that means something to you, you know, that you want to achieve, there's there's a specialness to it. And I truly think connecting with that part of our minds, that wants to grow in some way, or achieve something, you know, is the essence of truly living. But, you know, wait until the first of the year to make a change in life, I just have said over and over again, you know, you know, just doesn't seem necessary. And life is beautiful, and unpredictable, and kind of messy, and waiting for some arbitrary deadline just to lead you from really taking tomorrow to start living your life with the intention you want to get after your big scary dreams. And you'll often hear me say, you know, don't wait for that perfect moment, which so many of us that are like have that internal perfectionist that comes out, you know, you wait, well, I'm you know, now's the perfect time for me to do this XYZ thing because it somehow lines up in this timeline in your head, or these perfect things will fall into place. But the thing is, there's always going to be something causing the conditions, not to be perfectly how you would like them. So I say, you know, start tomorrow to step into your beautiful, beautiful future self to live the life you want. Now, the only exception to say to that is that, you know, is is I'm kind of saying here that in this podcast, just for this podcast, really be a bit of a rebel here in the new year. Because maybe you don't pick one of those new year resolution goals, I no shock. Or you scrapped the one you have because you know, you're not feeling it. And maybe it didn't come with the intention and thought work that you want it. Let's face it, you know, you likely have just gotten through a hectic holiday season where you spent money, sometimes lots of money, changed up all your normal routines to come eat all the things that were going on, accommodated, you know, family and friends in a way with love, but still, you probably a party, that indulged, ran your gas tank empty of energy, you know, spent time running around traveling, you know, and maybe instead of, you know, completely exhausting yourself by some wild new year resolution plan. Maybe you take a step back and do what I'm calling, which is a New Year's chill solution. Yep, I'm actually saying, why don't you take this January to just chill. That's what I said, just choose to chill for a bit. Now, you already have a plan and you want to push on. And you're all gung ho, hey, I say have at it. I love it. You know, I'm never going to be dissuading you from going after your goals for sure. But for so many of us, you know how we ever just asked ourselves if we need to take a break here at the beginning of the year, to not rush into picking a goal because everyone else is, you know, to have the confidence to say I can take these first few weeks of January to explore how I'm feeling about what I want this year to be for me. And to be okay with that. Like to have the confidence to say I choose the chill solution to maybe have a couple spa days to sleep in, to listen to my body to wear my mask and clean out my closet, you know for you to make your favorite food or watch one of your favorite movies you haven't seen in a while. Now for me that's that's probably like pretty woman or Casablanca or Jones. I've already I just watched Bridget Jones, so I'd have to pick one of the other ones but still, you know what I mean? But come on, like to get back to your usual routines that you love. You know to take this time to journal in your favorite chair or to listen to some of your favorite podcasts. To have the confidence to say that you know that when you're ready to commit to what you want to achieve, the timeline is all yours. Because when you think about it, any feeling you think you may get from getting after your goal 100 miles an hour on January 1, is driven by the thought that the timeline of the New Year drives your goals that has some mythical value and whether you can be successful this year. But say you take the whole month of January to replenish you to choose your New Year's chill solutions. What is stopping you from having the exact same feeling about kicking it into high gear after a goal on February 1, just like if you had started on January 1? Really? What is stopping you? You know what the answer is? Absolutely nothing. You can have that same feeling any other day of the year. It's only how you choose to think about it. So I say be the rebel. Try something new this January. And choose New Year's chill solutions. And see how that feeds your soul. See if you're less likely to burn out when you start listening to what you need here at the beginning of the year. And to be thoughtful, and give everything you need to yourself in order to do whatever it is that you want to accomplish this year. But just remember, if you hate it, you can always do the old way, the exact same way you want to, you know in the next new year. It's not like there will be another new year coming around. So try new year's chill solutions. And I will leave you with that. Now go get after it. Remember you got this
